The group jumped, but wait a minute, wheres Graminea Malkovich?, Calairiel discovers that Gram stayed behind to help out Kerys Nae Gwennen, but wait, where the heck are they?, this isn’t Moonbrook, Sahalquiel and Calairiel along with the severely drained Surosar and the teleporter who just wants to get home, head south hoping they will eventually reach Moonbrook.
It appears it is further than they first suspected after a day and a night of travel when they spot a city in the distance, that sure as heck isn’t Moonbrooke, they head towards it for a place to stay and get bearings on if they are even on the correct continent after another teleport spell going slightly awry.
guards greet the half party with pleasantries, very orderly pleasantries, Hal checks out the sigils at the gate and that adorn the guards uniforms and discerns that this is a place of great worship, a place of law and order, namely followers of St Cuthbert. They see this as nothing to sniff at and continue into the city.
Soon to be greeted by a rowdy crowd, jeering, jesting, and downright bullying someone in the centre, a half elf, the situation is quickly diffused by Calairiel and Hals menacing stare, the half elf runs off with no word of thanks and the villagers jeer at the group and disband half heartedly, their fun being taken away from them.
As the teleporter just wants to get home and away from the madness we dragged her into, the party hurriedly find out where they can acquire some horses or some sort of transport caravan back to Moonbrook and stumble onto the fact this city is at war with a neighboring one over to the East and so horses are a bit sparse at the moment, the group are somewhat annoyed by this and say there is surely something that can be done as they need to get back asap, for one the teleporter is fed up of them and the other half of the party could be in great danger, they need to get in touch quickly at the rendezvous point, the stable master says he can see what he can do given the situation and asks for a short time to get things sorted with the officials.
so Hal, Cala, Sura limping behind and the teleporter getting even more antsy decide to see the sights of the city, Hal and Cala were partially intrigued by the mention of this war and want to see whats up, the villagers are non to happy with their prying and they are downright ignored and shoved out of conversations.
The hour lets up and the party shuffle back to see what sort of transport they are handed, mules, slow, smelly, and really not worth the price they are handed, Hal and Cala give each other a knowing glance and figure they can do without after the stable hand mentioning that Moonbrooke is a stones throw away of maybe two days walking travel, the group set off to the gates to leave, the guards stop them in their tracks.
Reports that they were snooping around asking about the war, Calariel snorts and says they were just curious, but this isn’t enough to stave off the guards enquiries, who are they?, why have they traveled here?, what friends? they want to take them in for further questioning as its not very orderly to be discussing this at the gates, Cala down right refuses, sticking to her guns on the matter that they were just passing through and just want to get back home, but where is home? why have they not heard of this place and why were they asking about the war, no, you have to come with us please!
The guards go to grab the party and arrest them under suspicion of spying, Cala still refuses and drops a cloud of smoke, all but Sura dash away from the situation, but this isn’t quite enough, the guards shout an alert for all guards to stations, cue chase scene as the group have arrows flung at them and heavy guards running towards them, Cala does all she can to slow them down but Hal knows these guys, that St Cuthbert lot, they will never stop, they would chase them to the ends of the earth to bring someone to justice for littering! and so surrenders, a few nights in jail is better than being cut down on the run.
Cala tries to convince the teleporter to stop, but she just wants to get home and away from the madness this group seem to cause.
and so Hal and Cala are captured not surprisingly Cala still wants to resist, stubborn as she is, they have to disarm her, knock her out and put her in an anti magic field before she can be properly questioned.
suspicions are high as the small group has now been suspected for spying for the other side and also resisted arrest, they are thrown into jail for the night until further notice of their trial.
Calarial tests the waters but finds she cant cast spells even to heal herself and so sits this out praying for guidance from Ehlonna
Hal knows just as well the St cuthbert guys are ruthless yes, but they are being honest, and once proven themselves to be within the law this will all blow over (if only Cala would listen to him) and so sits in wait of the trial going over his rights. But someone walks past, a couple of guards with someone in tow, Erevan Silverton!? what was he doing in here? is he being set free? where is he going next. theres not much Hal can do right now, but its definitely something he can find out once he is out of here.
The group suddenly hear a great scream, from a familiar voice, Surasar, in the panic at the gate earlier he threw up his faithfull shield spell, and if hes receiving pain then somethings happening to Graminea wherever her and Kerys are.
The rest of the day is spent in the cell the screaming dies down, or even stops as the spell wears off or perhaps sura has passed out, the guards help him out as they cant question a dead man fully.
The night in jail passes and they are taken to trial
the judge, its someone they know, although have never met, Erevan was questioning her whilst they had a scry up on him, to join him, she clearly has a lot of power.
A circle of truth is cast on the three
“what do you plead against accusations upon spying for the enemy?”
“not guilty” the entire group say with no hesitation, Calarial adding some extra truth to the tail although this is not necessary.
“what do you plead against resisting arrest?”
“and have you ever at any point lived in or visited Keridan”
sura replies with yes, when he was a young lad, but this isn’t possible, hes over 100 years old and the city wasn’t even founded that long ago.
Sura is discharged of not guilty on all accounts but taken for further questioning.
Hal knows his shit from going over his rights the night before and gives them reason to cut his sentence time in half as he came without fight but Calariel gets the full sentence of three days.
