The party rose to their feet in a jail cell deep in the Abyss, Kerys near death from brushing Khazmin and so coming into contact with Pazuzu’s demonic magic. The cell’s sole other inhabitant—it’s prisoner—was a Myrmyxicus, a foul and enormously powerful Tanar’ri, thankfully deceased. It was kept under watch by a similarly proportioned undead jailor, which the party had to sneak past to escape the cell.
The party used the various polymorph spells at their disposal to squeeze through the bars covering the cell’s solitary exit, but Khazmin was not able to get through unassisted, and Kerys was unwilling to help him after he so gleefully sapped her life’s essence. When Khazmin collided with the deceased Myrmyxicus after falling the short distance from the bars to the bottom of the cell, it exploded into a horrible cloud of vermin. The party routed them and pressed on, trying to find an exit.
After a day’s grim travel across a largely featureless layer, the party rested for one night. During his watch, Khazmin heard an eerie singing coming from a nearby cell and wished to have a closer look, but he was dissuaded by the others.
After their morning rituals, Kerys and Lucretia both realised that their deities could not hear their prayers. Graminea suggested leaping through the portal following Kerys. Kerys did not believe it to be a wise plan, but it worked, so more the fool her for doubting it. Kerys somehow followed the party by doing an incredibly sweet backflip into the portal whilst in the form of a small cat. On the other side of the portal was a colossal elemental whale, being bathed in a perpetual flow of water.
